An evening of Musical Magic dedicated to SUSTAINABLE RE-DEVELOPMENT of blighted areas of our inner city of Cincinnati, starting with the Over-the-Rhine (OTR)! Gaia Foundation, Inc., the sponsor of this evening, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promotion of sustainable development of communities and environments for improved quality of life. Results are achieved through multiple means, such as educational programs, demonstrations of sustainable technologies, providing consulting to non-governmental and governmental organizations and developing policies on local, state, national and international levels .
OTR has recently been designated as one of the nation's top 11 endangered historic places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation - Gaia Foundation has been working on reversing this trend since the riots in 2001. Our S.E.A.R.C.H. (Sustainable Environment and Advanced Renewal of Cincinnati Heart) and Gaia Oasis (across from the Findlay Market) projects are dedicated to restoring the historical beauty of our inner city neighborhoods, such as OTR, while at the same time employing the most modern 21st century technologies to conserve energy, water and other resources, and promote walking, biking and other most efficient transportation modes in addition to providing work for the people in the neighborhood, thus decreasing the necessity for car transportation (most wasteful ) and highway congestion. Did you know that cars create 60 times more CO2 emissions than biking/mile?
